Position:  Distance Learning Instructional Aide

Description of Job Duties: Monitor distance learning video classes.  Proctor distance learning exams (video-conference and online).  Receive, distribute, collect and send all course materials as requested by the course instructor and/or site supervisor.  Serve as an assistant to the instructor during class.  Maintain a good learning environment.  Inform the instructor about any problems concerning the class.  Assist the site supervisor with general office duties.  Perform basic technological trouble-shooting.  Some non-traditional work hours may be required as well as other duties assigned.  Work rules, code of conduct and other policies are part of the essential functions of the job.  Ability to communicate effectively with students and college personnel.  This position reports to the Del Rio Distance Learning Site Supervisor.  Security-sensitive position.

Salary:   Clerical I, 11-month position.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:  

Education:  Associate degree preferred or comparable training or experience.

Experience & Training:  Basic computer knowledge, Microsoft Office Suite knowledge, basic computer troubleshooting skills, supervisory, and Distance Learning experience preferred.    

Additional Qualification Requirements:   The aide must have good communication and organizational skills.  The aide must be able to work with people in the public environment.  Must possess required knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, the essential functions of the job.  Experience in working with diverse populations.  Candidate must be authorized to work in the U.S. and must provide verifiable credentials; successful completion of the background and reference checks specified for the position.  Must have a valid driver's license and be insurable through SWTJC insurers.  Travel required to other geographic locations served by the college.
