Turkey Trot Young runners take off in the youth portion of the 2010 Turkey Trot. A total of 189 runners took place in the 26th annual running event hosted on the SWTJC Uvalde campus. MORE PHOTOS Mr./Mrs. Santa  Rob Fowler and Imelda Ramirez were selected by Uvalde students as Mr. and Mrs. Santa for 2010. The winners were announced during the annual Thanksgiving Feast held Nov. 17 in the Matthews Student Center. Large turnout  Approximately 180 people attended the Thanksgiving Feast held Nov. 17 on the SWTJC Uvalde campus. The annual event is sponsored by the Student Activities Office. Canned goods collected as admission to the event will be donated to the Uvalde Food Pantry. Piano recital  Thomas Steigerwald plays a selection during a piano recital he performed Thursday (Nov. 18) in the Tate Auditorium. The 17-year-old has won numerous state and regional piano competitions. He was a guest of the Humanities and Fine Arts Department at SWTJC. Veterans honored  SWTJC Uvalde student Rosy Arellano (above) plays Taps during a luncheon held Nov. 11 to honor veterans. Luncheon honorees (below) join in The Pledge of Allegiance prior to the meal. The luncheon was held in the ballroom of the Matthews Student Center on the Uvalde campus.  |
