FAN donor mural

Art professor Abel Ortiz puts the finishing
touches
on a mural he painted for the Flores Student
Services Building in Uvalde. The mural was commissioned by the SWTJC
Friends and Alumni Network (FAN). Names of FAN benefactors will be
listed on the wall adjacent to the mural.
Getting ready

SWTJC Dean of Instruction Hector Gonzales puts his
welding skills to good use on Monday, Oct. 4,
helping finish work on the new grandstands at the SWTJC Rodeo Arena in
Uvalde. The 48th Annual SWTJC Rodeo will be staged at the arena on
Friday and Saturday, Oct. 8-9.

State representative

District 74 State Representative Pete Gallego
(D-Alpine) campaigns
on the SWTJC Uvalde campus Thursday, Oct. 28.
Gallego, Democratic gubernatorial candidate Bill White and other
Democrat candidates for statewide office also spoke at a campaign rally
at the Uvalde civic center, following Gallego's stop at SWTJC.
Trash pick up

Several SWTJC clubs and classes took part in a
trash pick up
Friday, Oct. 22, on Garner Field Road near the
rodeo arena. Representatives of Phi Theta Kappa, Business Club, Catholic
Club and Law Enforcement Academy class gathered up 28 bags of trash
during the service project.
