Enrollment update Dean of Admissions and Student Services Joe Barker updates faculty and staff in Eagle Pass on the record enrollment of 6,293 students this fall at SWTJC. Barker's comments came during the Dean's Forum held in Eagle Pass on Sept. 28. Canseco for Congress  Republican Congressional candidate Quico Canseco speaks to students during a campaign stop Tuesday, Sept. 28, in Uvalde. Canseco is challenging incumbent Democrat Ciro Rodriguez in the 23rd Congressional District race. State candidate  Thomas Kincaid, Jr., speaks to students in Jack Lampe's government class, during a visit to the Uvalde campus on Monday, Sept. 27. Kincaid is the Republican candidate for District 74 state representative. Parade prizes  The SWTJC float won prizes in both Uvalde and Hondo in September. Constitution Day  Representatives of the Student Activities Board served cake and punch in Uvalde on Sept. 17 to celebrate Constitution Day. Following the video, SWTJC student Rosie Arellano played taps and a moment of silence was observed. The ceremony was staged by the Catholic Club. |

Labor Day celebration  Singer Sara Aviles and members of Mariachi Los Vaqueros de SWTJC perform Saturday, Sept. 4, during the Texas Labor Day Weekend Celebration held in Uvalde's Memorial Park. Top parade entry  The SWTJC entry in the parade (below) won best youth entry in the Uvalde Labor Day Weekend Festival. The festival raised $5,000 for the Los Palominos Scholarship Fund at SWTJC.
